Gloria is a founding member of East Side (back in 2013!) and has seen it through rapid growth, big changes, and several moves. She loves the close-knit community that East Side has become and especially the deep friendships her kids have made here. Her priorities at co-op are good coffee and happy teachers (they go together).
Gloria lives in Manlius with her six children and husband Jim, a Latin teacher, whom she met while studying archaeology in Greece. She is originally from Portland, Oregon, loves to study history and theology, can bake bread but not cakes, loves 90s R&B, and would rather be wearing Doc Martins.
Susannah grew up in Syracuse. She graduated from Hobart & William Smith Colleges with a degree in Education and Psychology. She holds a masters in Clinical Literacy from Bank Street College of Education. She taught K/1 at Hoboken Charter School for 5 years and for 3 years at Midtown West (PS 212) in NYC. She then spent 6 years in Seattle and substitute taught at Sweet Pea Cottage Preschool. Susannah moved back to the 'Cuse 6 years ago and is enjoying homeschooling her four children, ranging in age from 4 to 11. She is passionate about children's books, Marmite, play, and eating candy and reading in bed on rainy days. Susannah has been a part of East Side since its second year and is thrilled to be teaching in the pre-k class!
Faith is a mom to five children ranging in ages from 12 to 1. She has been homeschooling them from the start and has been a member of East Side since its first year. She holds a Bachelor's of Science in Economics from Penn State University. Previous nonprofit experience includes serving on the Board of Directors for Babywearing International, Inc. as the Vice President of Education and as President of the CNY chapter. Faith is excited to serve on East Side's Board of Directors and give back to the community that has given so much to her family.
Karra grew up in Syracuse and married her high school sweetheart, Dan. She graduated SUNY Geneseo with a dual major in psychology and sociology. She has four children ages 11-4. She has been homeschooling 8 years and involved in East Side Co-op since the beginning!! Karra doesn’t get out much, of the preschool room that is, and has worked in there since her third session at East Side. She enjoys crafty things and organizing as a hobby.
Taylor grew up in Canandaigua, NY, and got her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, with an Early Childhood emphasis, from Grove City College in PA. She met her husband in the dishroom of the college cafeteria (so romantic), and after moving to Syracuse, they had 3 kiddos together (9, 6, and 3) and recently added a dog. Taylor has homeschooled from the start, and joined the Eastside community several years ago. She's honored to be on the board and work behind the scenes to help our co-op flourish. Her passion is teaching materials/content heavy classes on topics that personally fascinate her and hopefully the students by extension. Things you will often hear in class include: "We ran out of time AGAIN!" and "do you think we'll set off the smoke alarms?" Her favorite thing is seeing interest spark in a kiddo. She also is great at disorganization, leaving laundry in the washing machine too long, and eating dessert.
